Food is not Love

Parents need to remember that "food is not love." Too many parents use food as a reward or they withhold food as punishment for a child. It would be better to take away a toy or turn off the TV instead of withholding a favorite dessert or making a child go to his room without supper. Food should not be used as a reward either. When a child needs to be praised give him a hug and not a cookie or a piece of candy. If you don't use food as a reward or punishment, you will enable the child to deal with life's ups and downs without resorting to food for gratification.

God allows testing times to come nto all our lives in order to build character. So often we reach for food to console us or to avoid dealing with issue at hand. We need to trust in the Lord and to do good, or even when we are going through rough times of our own.
